Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle [ IGCC] technology has provided a cost effective way to utilize low grade fuels in an environmentally and economically superior fashion. The energy efficient IGCC process using precombustion decarbonization with CO₂ sequestration [CCS] can contribute to climate change initiatives through both efficiency and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The technology of converting solids and liquids to a synthetic gas [syngas] for power and other products [PolyGen] is allowing co-production of Fertilizer, Methanol and Fischer Tropsch [FT] liquids such as zero sulfur diesel fuel for transportation. IGCC can also provide significant operational flexibility to mitigate renewable intermittency system stability issues.
